Happy Thursday!

It really has been a busy and exciting few weeks. I have been working a lot but recently I have realized how much I really do love working at the Bux. I meet new people everyday and I have so many awesome coworkers that my life would definitely not be the same without. Tonight, Jon and I are going to the premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II with Grayson and Micale. I can help but feel a bittersweet excitement to finally see the series completed (and to know that a ridiculously awesome box set is now just months away) but also sad that it will all be finished and there will not be anymore films to get this excited about.
Jon's uncle Norm and his family moved down this week from Michigan. They have the cutest little old house in Deer Park--I love old houses, they have so much character. Norm's wife Tammy is quite possibly the sweetest women I have ever met. They are a very lively and active family and I am so excited for their housewarming party and other shindigs which I hear they are famous for.
For this post I was planning on finishing up with pictures of the rest of the changes to our master bedroom but with so many other things going on I think that will have to wait.
We got the disk of all of our pictures we took a week or so ago and I am completely amazed. Meagan did such a great job and gave us exactly what we wanted. I was not surprised by this because I know Meagan takes amazing pictures however I was surprised by how well she captured really genuine interaction and emotion of Jon and I. Some are silly, others are more composed. Several caught really intimate moments that really show how much we are in love. There are really no words to describe how it feels to see all of that on film.

These are just a few of my favorites.

New Life to an Old Dresser

To be completely honest, summer is my least favorite season. It's miserably hot and humid here on the gulf and every summer of my college career until this summer I took summer school. This year I decided it was time to catch up on things that were well overdue. I took the summer off from school so I could spend time with friends and family (and some me time). So far I have organized the house and have finally gotten around to decorating our bedroom. It seems like that's always the room to get decorated because it is the least likely to be seen by guests. Never-the-less, I have been dreaming up finishing the room and giving the hubs and I a relaxing little nook to hide away in.

This dresser has been in my family since the 20s. It originally was a nursery dresser and had a wooden cutout of bunnies on the door. I love that it is a family heirloom and the art-deco detailing on the feet. This dresser was perfect for our first project together.
We stripped the dresser down to the wood and applied two coats of primer.
We painted the dresser dark gray.
New hardware added sophistication to the old nursery dresser.

Sorry about the poor picture quality. These were all taken by me. The dresser was step one to a personal and dreamy bedroom makeover. More to follow soon but for now I'm off to enjoy the summer.

Couple Photos

I am so excited! Our 2nd wedding anniversary is coming up this month so I just booked couple photos with the oh-so-talented Meagan McLendon. Her blog forgetmenotphotog is so beautiful and all of her pictures have so much character. I love how looking at her pictures makes me feel like its fall--my favorite time of year-- even with this 100° weather we've been having. Now I am being an absolute stalker and scouring the internet for engagement photos and the like so I can be sure to get some awesome posing ideas. Now comes the hard part: deciding what to wear!

Jon and I never did actual engagement pictures and the best we've gotten was having my best friend Stefanie and her boyfriend Lee take a few shots of us with the dogs for our Christmas cards. Needless-to-say these pictures are very overdue. I know it is scorching but I am really considering boots and sweaters and scarves! Just look at these!
